FAQ’S

  1. What will my child learn in the Cha Cha (1.5-3 years old) and Ca Sa (3-6 years old) programs?
  • In the Cha Cha Program, your child will learn in the Montessori prepared environment guided by a Montessori trained teacher (expatriate) and three teaching assistants . According to the Montessori philosophy, children ages 0-3 have incredibly absorbent minds and learn unconsciously through their environment. PPMI provides a safe, enhanced environment for children to develop and learn at their own pace, and explore their individual talents. Children are given abundant opportunities to develop their English and learn practical life, academic, and social skills. The classes are all conducted in English.
  • In the Ca Sa Program, your child will learn in the Montessori prepared classroom environment guided by a Montessori trained teacher (expatriate) and two teaching assistants (Cambodian). Children at this age are now consciously using their senses to explore and learn from their environment. They engage in problem-solving tasks, use real objects, and learn practical life skills such as household chores and personal hygiene. Children in this program also develop their knowledge about the world, and learn more difficult academic subjects to prepare them for grade 1 at primary school. We offer swimming, music, art, sports, and cooking lessons and filed trips as extra-curricular activities.
  1. What are the class sizes?
  • Cha Cha classrooms have 12-18 students, and the CaSa classrooms have 18 -25 students.
  1. How many teachers are there in each class?
  • There is one Montessori trained teacher (expatriate) and two to three teaching assistants in each room.
  1. How are the lessons taught?
  • Children learn in the Montessori prepared environment by actively working with the materials. Each child is given freedom to choose what he/she is interested in learning by him/herself, in groups and from one another under the guidance and assistance of the teacher and teaching assistants. The teacher is trained to teach each child from the standard Montessori curriculum according to his/her age and particular stage of development. Lessons are taught to small groups of students, but not necessarily to the class as a whole. Teachers try to cater their lessons to the particular interests of the children involved. The teachers role is to observe the child engagement in work, note the child interest or challenges with particular activities, monitor the child progress, provide opportunities for practice and improvement, and provide guidance where needed. The daily lessons are planned according to the core Montessori curriculum and are taught in an uninterrupted cycle. Due to the range of ages, abilities, and interests within each classroom, children work on different exercises at different times.
  1. Does PPMI assign homework and give exams?
  • The Montessori philosophy does not believe in giving homework to children under the age of six. Therefore, PPMI does not use homework as the main tool of learning. However, teachers may assign homework upon parent/guardian request.
  • PPMI does not give tests or exams and does not use grades as a form of reward or punishment. PPMI assessment practice is for teachers to make close observations and record of each child work. Teachers make daily recordings of each child development, progress, interests, and challenges by writing in the Study Record Booklet and Student Progress Observation Form. This assessment method allows parents/guardians to know what their children are learning every day at school.
  1. What is the daily timetable for half day and full-day program?
  • Daily Timetable Half Day Morning: 8:00- 11:00 AM
  • Daily Timetable  Half Day Afternoon:  1:30- 04:30 PM
  • Daily Timetable  Full Day Morning & Afternoon: 8:00- 04:30 PM
